Kokedama – Japanese for moss ball, are sometimes known as ‘poor man’s bonsai’. Kokedama is the art of encasing the roots of plants in layers of special soil and moss, effectively making a ball at the base of the plant which can then be hung or placed on a saucer to display.
In recent years kokedama have become a fashionable way to display both indoor and outdoor plants, gracing the interiors of hip indivuals and the windows of groovy cafes. More than that, kokedama are great fun to make; and straightforward once you know the steps and materials involved. Made to this method, kokedamas can thrive for years if maintained well.
You will learn how to create a kokedama using traditional Japanese methods – the proper way, so that your plants have every chance at success. All materials are provided along with notes, plus you will create two small kokedamas to take home with you!
